Absolutely Gutted Ralston Reflects On Scotlands World Cup Play Off Defeat

Scotland defender Ralston devastated after World Cup Play-off defeat

'Absolutely gutted' - Ralston reflects on Scotland's World Cup play-off defeat

Scotland defender Anthony Ralston has expressed his disappointment after the team's defeat in the World Cup play-offs.

The right-back played the full 90 minutes as Scotland lost 3-1 to Ukraine at Hampden Park on Wednesday night, ending their hopes of reaching the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

After the match, Ralston spoke to BBC Scotland about his emotions and the team's performance.

"I'm absolutely gutted," he said.

"We gave it everything we had, but it wasn't enough. We're all so disappointed, but we have to hold our heads up high and be proud of what we've achieved."

Scotland had a good start to the match and took the lead through Callum McGregor in the first half. However, Ukraine came back strong in the second half and scored three goals to win the match.

"We started the game really well and got the goal, but we didn't manage to build on that," said Ralston.

"Ukraine are a good team and they put us under a lot of pressure in the second half. We couldn't deal with it and they scored three goals.

"It's a tough result to take, but we have to learn from it and come back stronger."
