Chubba Purdy to Start at Quarterback for Nebraska in 2024
Nebraska Cornhuskers quarterback Chubba Purdy has been named the starter for the 2024 season.
Purdy started the final two games of the 2023 season for Nebraska, leading the team to a win over Iowa and a loss to Minnesota. He completed 66.7% of his passes for 412 yards with three touchdowns and one interception in those two games.
Purdy is a redshirt freshman from Perry, Florida. He was a four-star recruit and the No. 11 pro-style quarterback in the 2022 class. Purdy committed to Nebraska over offers from Auburn, Florida, and LSU.
Purdy will be the first true freshman to start at quarterback for Nebraska since Patrick O'Brien in 1992. He will be tasked with leading a Nebraska offense that struggled in 2023, averaging just 19.6 points per game.
Nebraska opens the 2024 season on August 31 at home against Northern Illinois.
